I know you’re all waiting with bated breath to find out… how were the jeans?
And (because I am a kind person, and it’s early in the morning), the answer is… not bad. They are not new jeans, so they were comfortable in that broken-in-jeans kind of way. And they didn’t pinch, or fall down, or do anything untoward that made me want to run back to my leggings.
That said, I did change into comfy pants when I finally got home (WHY did I pick my longest day in the office this week to try this??). But that’s par for the course. I’m not going to sit at my desk at home and not be in comfy pants. I mean, really. I have some limits.
So now, as Engie pointed out, I have more options! I don’t have to get rid of them. I’m certainly not going to buy any more right now, but I can keep the ones I have and actually wear them. Win-win, in my opinion.
My intention for today? Well, other than coming and posting (and look, I did that!), it’s based on this quote that I found a few weeks ago. As always, attribution is assumed to be correct but please correct me if it is not:
“Keep your mouth shut and your eyes open.” ~Samuel Palmer
And a question… what is one thing you never thought you’d go back to post-lockdown (I can’t say post-COVID because, well, it’s still here) that you actually did go back to? I’m curious if others said “never again” and later reconsidered their choices.
Happy Thursday. Be well, friends.
Oh I just commented on your last post and now I see you have answered the question. Oooh I’m excited for you, wardrobe choices! One thing I haven’t done since the pandemic is practice yoga in a studio. I used to do Mysore-style in the very early morning at a studio, but now I just do Mysore-style in my home. I have taught many classes in a studio but I haven’t done my own practice. I find my solo practice is really nice and introspective these days.
Also, FWIW I wear jeans almost every day. It’s all about finding comfy ones!
Nicole, comfiness is key. They’re soft and old and yeah, couldn’t do the non-jegging skinny jean now, thanks.
Oh, that’s so interesting that your personal practice is now a private one within your home. I started reading DURING the pandemic, so didn’t realize that you had shifted that part of your life so much. I just assumed that you were always someone who practiced at home.
I am glad that the jeans worked out, even if you did change out of them right away when you got home. I would say that since the lockdown, I have probably worn jeans maybe less than a dozen times. However, I do have to wear slacks to work, so I can’t always be in comfy pants unfortunately. BUT as soon as I get home, its elastic waist for sure!
Elastic waists for the win, for sure. I don’t think it’ll be jeans very day but it is so nice to have the option! I guess your workplace is more stringent in terms of dress, as it sounds like you cannot wear jeans.
I’m glad your jeans test went well!
Provably not the type of answer you were thinking of, but during the early Covid times, pre-vaccines especially, I never thought I’d be comfortable going out in crowded places again. Then we got vaccines, and all of a sudden in-person activities (in our case music sessions) started up again. To begin with I was very hesitant but then the Ukraine war started, and I had a feeling of dread that it was the start of something big and that life as we knew it would basically be over soon. Then I decided to live life while I could, that mental health is also important, and went to the pub to enjoy playing music with other people.
I think I remember when you were making the decision to start going out, and it seems as though it’s been really good for your mental health. It’s taken me longer but I am getting there. I definitely need to force myself (still).
Yay old jeans! I was inspired to wear some today, and I donβt hate them. I have gone right back to eating in restaurants, which I said I never would.
Interesting about restaurants! I’ve eaten in one twice, I think but… I also don’t eat out a lot. π I’m not sure if I inspired you, but I was definitely reminded of the joy of old jeans. Stiff, new jeans? Nope. I’ll hang on to these as long as I can.
Yay! More wardrobe options. That’s never a bad thing.
Yay! Posting two days in a row. Are you going to keep doing it?
Tomorrow you can write about your morning routine or the last great book you read or what your favorite animal is. No research needed, mindless post!
I’m going to try to keep doing it! Although reports on my wardrobe will probably slow down. π
I’m stuck in two books – a trashy novel and a non-fiction that is much draggier than anticipated. Maybe I’ll post about that, tomorrow… hm… Ponder, ponder.
A two day blogging streak!!!! Yay!!!
I’m cheated by peaking at your answer to Engie and I would love to know what you’re reading! And what you’re having for dinner tonight. Actually I want everyone to copy Stephany’s week of day in the life posts. Enquiring minds want to know!
Where I live COVID “ended” in the summer of 2021. My mask wearing since then has been any place where it was required (airplane, doc’s office), and for the grocery store trips that I made while my husband had COVID. When I got it I just stayed home. Other than that we’re completely back to normal life. It’s been interesting to see how all of us in the blogging community have adapted – some of us are full 2019 and others are still taking some level of precautions. Everyone has their reasons.
Well, perhaps I shall post today on what I am reading (actually, that was already kind of the plan :>).
I do wonder what factors/characteristics are associated with different responses to post-lockdown life. It seems as though those people with families – particularly with kids who are involved in lots of things (as your stepsons are) – are back in “real life”. That said, I don’t think it’s a perfect association, for sure. Others without kids and/or spouses are definitely more back to 2019-level interactions, compared to me. I’m sure we’ll continue to learn more as time goes on. I can’t imagine the social scientists aren’t going to study it.
I’m glad you have more options. And that these jeans did not annoy you. I had jeans that got baggy in the butt as the day went on. Mini pretty much forbid me from wearing them again and I finally donated them.
This question has stumped me. I guess I could say that I do not workout at the health club anymore but I have once in a blue moon. I love that my fav instructor has put workout videos on FB. I would not say my choice to workout at home is because of the pandemic though. Like I do not worry about germs at the health club. It is just way more convenient.
OK, jeans that sag in the rear are not cool. I’m with Mini on this one.
Well, you have a bunch of kids – both those in your family, and those you care for – and it seems as though that might play a role in you being back to (mostly) pre-COVID activities, etc. Maybe? it’s easy for me – no kids, no spouse – to just keep to myself, still. Harder for people who want to cheer for their kids, visit their kids, get the kids they’re sitting for out of the house (like, um, the screamer…).
I’m glad the jeans experiment went well! I love wearing jeans, as I mentioned in my previous post.
I’m not sure if there’s anything I said “never again” to during COVID. I think I started realizing how crazy it was that we were always so close to other people all the time, but I knew there would be a time when things would come back to a new normal. I’ve even been on a cruise!
I’m even considering wearing jeans again this week! I know, craziness. π I have loved them forever – favorite kind of pants, pre-COVID – but was really struggling with ripping off that proverbial band-aid. Ha.
I know you’ve been on a cruise! and, you were one of the people I follow who was out in the world long before I was. I love that you balance your time with others and your time with just your girls. You really seem to have figured out what works for you. π
