Friends, I think I may have officially lost my mind.
Remember how I was hoping to have a calm, quiet weekend to give myself a bit of respite from the nuttiness of this time of year? While I have partially succeeded, yesterday I had the opportunity to question my sanity. Why, you ask? Well, because I honestly thought that I could go to Target at 2:45 pm on a Saturday in December, park, and get in and out with my pick up order in a reasonable amount of time.
I’ll pause while you burst into laughter.
To say that did not happen would be a tremendous understatement. I have no idea what I was thinking. None. I couldn’t find a parking space anywhere near the store (and keep in mind, this is a fairly small Target with a relatively small parking lot, compared to most suburban Targets), people were wandering in front of my car, and I was lucky to make it out of there unscathed.
Trying again this morning, then scurrying home to actually get to the “respite” portion of the weekend. Have a wonderful Sunday. I hope all of you can take a few moments for yourself, too, however you prefer to do so.
Yikes! Oddly I don’t really mind going to Costco on Saturday but TARGET ON A SATURDAY DURING THE CHRISTMAS SEASON??????????????? Yes there’s always the option go very early or very late, but it cuts into weekend slack time – why I always end up going to Costco in the middle of the day on weekends.
I know. That’s why I think I temporarily lost my mind. 😉
I tend to go to most stores as soon as they open. You’re right, though – that does eat into slack time, although it’s not like I’m someone who really sleeps in anyway (despite my best efforts, LOL).
Ha ha ha! Our town had so many holiday events this weekend (a big holiday market and a parade) and even just getting in and out of our neighborhood involved getting through barriers and carolers. Not a respite, but really fun!
I hope you know that going to Target between now and Christmas is not going to be an easy chore at all! Maybe you should consider just doing a pickup order!
That is exactly what I did – but I had to go into the store because I forgot one thing in the pick up order, and I also had to exchange something. And then the nice person helping me couldn’t find something. So it turned into a longer trip than anticipated, but not NEARLY as frustrating as Saturday afternoon.
Hope the holiday market went off without a hitch – you were there, right? – and that the parade was festive despite the lack of snow.
I HATE crowded stores. My favourite time to shop is the evening. Things seem to be quiet and…well…it’s not morning (you know how I feel about mornings).
I do know how you feel about mornings! But I also suspect that after dinner at the grocery store is NOT the busiest time there. Mornings, though, I don’t have the hassle of navigating other carts and other shoppers, at least most of the time. Also? Check out is super-duper fast, which is a huge win for me. 🙂
Ugh. This time of year is so rough! I hope it was easier on Sunday!
Easier but not shorter (the person helping me couldn’t find something required to complete my transaction). I did find parking, though, so that was a win!
Honestly, going anywhere on a weekend this time of year is a gamble. I hope you did get some “down time” 😉
It was brutal. Better Sunday but still slow. (Not due to the number of people, but other challenges, ha.)
Does your Target have curbside pick-up? That’s the only way I can handle Target during the holiday season! So much nicer to just sit in my car and wait for my things to be brought to me (I realize how bougie this sounds, haha).
Oh yeah – they do. But I have a Sodastream and needed a new canister, and you have to go in to do that. I mostly do pick up and drive up these days. They just added a bunch of drive up spots so it’s much better than it was! I’ll be doing that for the foreseeable future (i.e. holiday season).
